29/03/04 - The last 12 months have flown by. Not much rallying though. In fact none whatsoever. With a second child on the way we needed to move house to something a little more accommodating than our two bed terrace. That meant expense and that in turn lead to a change of job. To cut a long story short, Hannah was born at the end of August and we moved into our new place near Huntingdon at the end of September. New job started in October. Key point - I now have a garage!!
So what have I done?
Well, after 12 months of minimal use the old Amazon needed a little TLC. Having become increasingly dischuffed with the leaking windscreen, and being short of arms / long of pocket, I attacked the (decaying) rubber surround with some bath sealant. Worked a treat.
I also had a play with the interior. Removing (and selling) the unused Belmog part financed a trip to see Rob at Amazon Cars. What started off as work for the MOT resulted in loads of niggling jobs being completed.....niggling jobs such as fitting a 4 branch manifold and setting the suspension geometry. Well, you have to don't you?
Rob also sorted the wobbly headlights (broken mounts), welded a jacking point, fixed a leaking thermostat and supplied me with new air filters so I could replace the glued in 'XJ6' filter with the original (and far better sounding) pan filters. I also relieved him of a set of Maxsport RB4s as I was tiring of the tail happy antics of the Colway M&S tyres previously fitted (the fact there was only one good one on the car featured heavily in this decision!)
So, taxed (for free, of course) and MOT'd it would be shame not to use it. As it happens, the Tour of Cheshire was just around the corner.......
